That week I glued 14 mitered frames and every single one stayed square
Had a job in Des Moines last Tuesday through Friday where I prepped all the corners with a shooting board and tried hide glue for the first time on maple, and I swear the joinery just locked in perfect with no clamps fighting me, has anyone else had a run that good and then doubt their own setup like I did?

Hide glue does that. Once it grabs, it grabs hard and the wood doesnt fight back like PVA does. Had a walnut picture frame last spring, same thing, all four corners locked up square with just a couple of quick clamps. Still checked it with a square after and couldnt believe it was that easy. Sometimes you get a good run and it messes with your head, but it aint luck. The prep work is what makes it.
