Tried fixing a crooked drawer front with a sledgehammer logic

So I was fitting a drawer front last Tuesday and the gap was infuriating, like a solid 3/16 off on one side. I kept adjusting the clips and it just wouldn't sit flush, so in frustration I gave it a solid whack with my rubber mallet. The drawer front broke clean in half right down the middle. Ended up having to glue it back and wait overnight before I could even try again. Has anyone else ever had a drawer front just betray them like that?

Oh man, did you at least feel better for a split second before the crack sound? I did the exact same thing with a cabinet door last month, gave it one good rage whack and watched it splinter right in half like it was butter.

Maybe it's just me but I wonder if those cabinet doors are secretly made of cheap particle board now. Like they're designed to break so you have to replace the whole thing.
