Used a festival table top as a glue-up reference in Asheville

Saw this weird foldable table at a street fair and the top was dead flat. Took a construction level to it on a whim, zero gaps. Now I keep a piece of 3/4 melamine in the van for glue-ups. Cheap and consistent. Anyone else use random flat surfaces or am I just cheap?
