I don't always hide cables in home reno jobs

Most guys say to bury every wire behind drywall for a clean look. I think that's not always the best move. Take older houses with solid walls, for instance. Cutting into them for cables can lead to big repair bills. I run conduits along baseboards or crown molding instead. This way, if a cable fails or tech changes, it's a simple swap. Saving the customer money and trouble beats a perfect hide every time.

Wait, you're cutting into solid walls? @the_jenny is right, that's crazy money down the drain.

Crazy money down the drain" assumes the walls are load-bearing. How do you know they aren't just simple partitions. That changes the math completely.

Seriously, that's so true about not overcomplicating things just to look perfect.
