Just realized my coax stripping method was stripping the braid too short

Tbh, a senior tech in Denver watched me prep a line and said 'You're gonna lose signal with that.' I was cutting the jacket back a full inch and a half, which left the braid exposed for way too long before the connector. How much jacket do you guys usually leave on before crimping?

A full inch and a half of exposed braid is WILD. That senior tech in Denver saved you a world of trouble. I was taught a quarter inch of jacket past the connector body, just enough to get a good crimp on it. Any more than that and you're basically asking for a short.

Imagine leaving that much braid out. Might as well just twist the wires together and hope for the best.
