My knitting needle saved a lens assembly today

I was stuck with a tricky spring in an old lens. A knitting needle from my other hobby had the right stiffness and tip to place it just right. What common items have you used in a pinch for fixes?

Toothpick as a shim is a classic move. I keep a few in my toolkit for quick electronics fixes. Once used one to prop up a loose connection in a game controller. What's the weirdest thing you've MacGyvered into a tool?
