Cleared out the basement and rediscovered my old camping lantern

I was cleaning the basement for a spring project and found my first camping lantern from years ago. It was buried under a pile of junk and didn't work at first. I opened it up, cleaned the contacts, and now it lights up like new. Feels good to fix something instead of buying new. What's the oldest piece of gear you've brought back to life?

Good job on the fix... cleaning contacts is key for those electric lanterns. A lot of folks throw them out when the switch gets finicky, but a bit of contact cleaner usually does the trick. I revived a headlamp from a decade ago by just bending the battery spring back into place. The oldest thing I got working again was a manual can opener from my grandma's kitchen, nothing fancy but it still works. It's satisfying to give old stuff another shot instead of adding to the landfill.

Fixed an old cassette player that way. Same deal with the battery contacts, just needed a good scrape.

That grandma's can opener, what made you keep it around?
