I mean, keeping a simple list of my yarn buys for knitting projects made me spend less without even trying, idk how that works

That part where you said 'idk how that works' is so real. I mean, I started writing down my comic book buys and it did the same thing. Maybe it's just me but seeing it all in one place makes you face what you already have. It stops that 'out of sight, out of mind' thing where you forget past buys. So without even trying, you just buy less because the list is right there. It's like a quiet reminder that you don't need more, and it works way better than I expected.

Question about quiet trails for a peaceful hike near the city

That mill area is totally hit or miss these days. My crew talks about trails sometimes and a few guys said Whispering Pines is getting more traffic lately. Honestly, the back half of the Blue Creek loop is way more reliable for quiet. The first part is kinda boring but if you push past the second creek crossing, you won't see a soul. Got that deep woods feel and the path is smooth. Just go early, like sunrise early.

Cleared out the basement and rediscovered my old camping lantern

Good job on the fix... cleaning contacts is key for those electric lanterns. A lot of folks throw them out when the switch gets finicky, but a bit of contact cleaner usually does the trick. I revived a headlamp from a decade ago by just bending the battery spring back into place. The oldest thing I got working again was a manual can opener from my grandma's kitchen, nothing fancy but it still works. It's satisfying to give old stuff another shot instead of adding to the landfill.
