Hot take: I spent $80 on a 'universal' tent pole repair sleeve that snapped on its first use.
It was a cheap aluminum alloy, not the steel it claimed to be, and my tent collapsed in a light wind at Lake Tahoe. Anyone know a brand that actually makes durable ones?

Ugh that's the worst, sorry that happened. Been there with a cheap sleeve failing at the worst time. Honestly, skip the universal kits and get a proper splint from Tent Pole Technologies. They make them specific to your tent's pole diameter and the metal is way better. Had one of theirs hold up for years now, even in some nasty wind.

Yo @victor_carter51 you're way too trusting of those kits. My buddy Dave tried one on his Coleman last summer and it snapped again halfway through a 3-day trip in the Smokies. He had to wrap the damn pole with duct tape and a stick to make it back to the trailhead. Ended up ordering that Tent Pole Technologies splint after, said it was the only thing that actually fit right and didn't bend the second time around. Honestly, I think some lessons just have to be learned the hard way, you know?
