I keep seeing people recommend the same 3-season sleeping bag for high-altitude trips in Colorado. That's a good way to get cold.

Specifically, I see folks on here saying their 20-degree bag is fine for summer in the Rockies. Spent a night at 11,000 feet near Leadville in July, and the temp dropped to 28. My 20-degree bag was miserable. The rating is a survival limit, not a comfort rating. You need a bag rated at least 10 degrees lower than the expected low. How do you all adjust your bag picks for elevation?

Ever try a bag liner for those extra cold nights?

My old 20-degree bag got me through a cold snap in the Adirondacks with a fleece liner, @jessew83. It added a solid 10 degrees of warmth and felt way less clammy than sleeping in extra clothes. I keep one stuffed in my pack from October on now.
