Learned the hard way about tent stakes at Indian Lake last weekend
I was setting up at site 7 near the water when a storm rolled in around 11pm. The ground was sandy and my regular stakes pulled right out in the wind. I had to scramble to tie my tent to some rocks and a log until morning. Next day I bought a set of 10 inch sand stakes from the camp store for $12. Has anyone else found a good trick for keeping a tent anchored in loose soil?

Sand sucks for tent stakes. Good call on the bigger ones.

Grabbed some of those same stakes at a store near the lake myself a few years back after a similar night. Its funny how the same lesson applies to all sorts of stuff not just camping but like buying a cheap chargers or a bad phone case. The cheap stuff saves you a buck up front but then you pay for it later in hassle. Wish I learned that pattern earlier in life.
