My old canvas tent from 1998 finally gave up the ghost in a downpour near Bend
I was on a three day trip and a seam just ripped open, letting in a ton of water and soaking my sleeping bag. It made me realize how much lighter and faster modern tents are to set up, even if they don't have that same heavy feel. What's the most reliable 3-season tent you've used that can actually handle a surprise storm?

Oh man, that's rough about your old tent. A soaked bag is the worst. Parker's got a point about the full rainfly. Are you mostly doing weekend backpacking trips where every ounce counts, or is car camping more your style? That really changes what "reliable" means.

Can I borrow your ten year old tent since my gear is basically held together with duct tape and hope?

My old North Face Stormbreak 2 has seen some real weather in the White Mountains. The key for me is a full coverage rainfly that goes almost to the ground, not those shorter modern designs. What kind of trips are you usually planning with it?
