Lost $300 on a bad home inspection in Edmonton

I bought a townhouse in Edmonton last spring and paid $475 for a home inspection. The guy spent maybe 90 minutes walking around, said everything looked fine. Found out two months later the roof had a slow leak that ruined the attic insulation. Cost me $800 to fix. Anyone else get burned by a rushed inspection?

That really sucks, sorry you had to deal with that. A lot of those guys just rush through and miss obvious stuff.

Same pattern everywhere honestly (fast food, car repairs, you name it) people just don't care about the small stuff anymore.

Oh wow, that's just insane. Wait, let me get this straight - they literally left the old thermostat wires dangling out of the wall and just painted around them? Like they couldn't spend two extra minutes to tuck them back in or at least cut them flush? I had a similar thing happen with my place where the handyman caulked over a bunch of old cable wires instead of pulling them out. It's like they think we won't notice or something. Honestly blows my mind how some people do such half-baked work and call it done.
