I was cleaning my chain wrong for years and only figured it out last month

I always just sprayed degreaser on it and scrubbed with a brush, but my shifting was still rough. Then I watched a video from a shop in Vancouver and they used a proper chain cleaning tool with kerosene, not the spray can stuff. My drivetrain is so quiet now, it's like a new bike. What's your go-to chain cleaning method?

Kerosene in a milk jug works best for me.

Kerosene in a milk jug" is such a perfect example of how we all have these weird little fixes for things. You see it everywhere, murray.cole, people using stuff totally wrong because it just works better for them. It's like using a butter knife as a screwdriver or a coffee mug to water plants. Makes you wonder why the "right" tool often feels so useless compared to whatever we grab first. There's a real stubborn logic to it that I kind of respect, even if it's probably a fire hazard.
