Spent $150 on a Festool track saw guide rail and thought it was overkill until I used it for a kitchen remodel in Denver
Had to cut 30 feet of particle board down to size and that thing made dead straight cuts without any splintering on the edges. Has anyone else found a cheaper alternative that works just as well for long rip cuts?

You really dropped $150 on a guide rail? That seems crazy. I got a similar cut on some melamine shelves using a cheap aluminum straight edge and a circular saw with a fine-tooth blade. Cost me maybe 20 bucks total. Had zero splintering where it mattered.

Does it actually matter that much if both ways get the job done?
