That time I rolled out rebond pad and regretted every minute of it
I took a job last spring in a 3,000 square foot office space in downtown Austin. The client insisted on rebond pad because it was a few cents cheaper per square foot. I warned them about the smell and the uneven wear but they didn't budge. Three months later they called me back complaining about lumps and that lingering rubber odor. I went in to fix it and the pad had already started breaking down in high traffic areas. Has anyone else dealt with customers choosing the wrong pad against your advice?

Got a friend who manages apartments who tried this same thing. She had a tenant who wanted cheap padding for their unit and she warned them it wouldn't hold up. The tenant insisted and three months later the carpet was all rippled and lumpy. The rubber smell was so bad the tenant started getting headaches. She had to tear out the whole carpet and pad and start over with better stuff. The tenant ended up paying way more in the long run and learned a hard lesson about listening to professionals.

Meanwhile my buddy tried putting yoga mats under his carpet and the whole place smelled like a gym for six months, what a disaster.
