Walked through the old high school in Springfield and the carpet in the gym is still the original stuff from the 80s

It was that classic loop pile, and you could see the seams were still tight as a drum, no puckering at all. They just don't make that backing material anymore. Anyone else run into a job that's held up way longer than you ever thought it would?

That old school glue is bulletproof.

Bulletproof is a strong word. I've seen that stuff get brittle and yellow after a few years in the sun. It holds, but I wouldn't trust it on something that gets a lot of stress or weather.
