Was sure Cushion Back was for hacks, then did a retirement home in Reno

I spent like 6 years talking trash about cushion back carpet. Thought it was only for cheap flips and landlords. Got a job last month at this retirement community in Reno, 42 units, and the GC insisted on cushion back throughout. I fought him on it but he said residents keep falling and it's softer under the hip. So I installed 3,000 sq ft of it and honestly its holding up way better than I figured. The seams are still flat which shocked me. Now I'm wondering if I been too stuck in my ways with stretch-in. Anyone else flip on a material they hated for years? What made you change your mind?

Wait, how long did you let it sit before you decided it was garbage, cause I did the same thing with peel and stick tile on a basement rental and it took me a solid year to admit it was fine?

Oh absolutely, I ripped out a whole bathroom floor I'd glued down myself after like three months because I convinced myself it was crooked, and honestly it was perfectly straight the whole time. Sometimes we just need a year to stop staring at our own work and actually look at it.
