Just hit $50 saved on groceries this month using store apps

I started using the apps for Safeway and Fred Meyer about 3 weeks ago and clipped every digital coupon I could find, and my last receipt showed I saved almost $18 on one trip alone. Has anyone else found that the store-specific apps are way better than generic coupon sites, or is it just because I'm shopping during the markdown times?

Store apps are definitely the way to go. I tried a few generic coupon sites before and it was a pain, but the in-app coupons for my local chain saved me like $15 last week without any hassle. If you stack them with the sale prices, yeah, it adds up way faster than I expected.

My Publix app had a digital coupon for buy one get one free on chicken last week, and I stacked it with a 20% off meat sale they had running. That kind of thing really adds up, like @jake_dixon said, way faster than clipping paper coupons ever did. I saved almost $30 total that trip just by checking the app before I went.
