Am I the only one who sees people over-salting pasta water like it's a contest?
I watched a guy dump a full quarter cup of salt into a 4-quart pot last night and the pasta came out so briny you could taste it through the sauce, has anyone else noticed home cooks going way overboard with the salt lately?

My buddy used to do a big palmful of salt and call it good, but I watched him dump an entire fistful into a two quart pot once and the pasta came out tasting like a salt lick. That changed my mind about being too careful. Now I do about a tablespoon for a standard pot and it comes out way better. The water should taste like the sea, not the Dead Sea. Too much salt just ruins everything underneath it.

Oh @xena_jackson, have you ever accidentally oversalted and then tried to fix it by adding more water? lol I did that once and it just turned into salty soup. Learned my lesson the hard way too, now I measure it out every time.
