PSA: That 'quick' prep shift turned into a 6 hour nightmare with a bad knife

Honestly, I walked in thinking I'd just bang out some veg for the Saturday rush. But my chef handed me a serrated knife that was duller than a butter knife to break down a case of Roma tomatoes. After 45 minutes I had mangled pulp and a sore wrist. I finally grabbed my own knife from my bag and finished the rest in under 2 hours. That little change made all the difference for the whole shift. Has anyone else had to fight through bad tools at a new spot?

3 potatoes deep into making dinner for 4 people and my grandmother's 25 year old peeler just snapped in half. Not even a snap, it just like crumbled into rust dust in my hand. Ended up using a paring knife for the rest and cut my thumb open in the process. Never using secondhand kitchen tools again, especially peeling stuff that's already sketchy to begin with.
