Thought carbide end mills were overhyped until I ran 400 parts without a swap
Ngl, I used to stick with HSS cutters for nearly everything in my shop because they're cheap and I figured carbide was just marketing. Last month I finally tried a solid carbide 3-flute on some 6061 aluminum parts I run a lot of. I'm over 400 pieces deep and it's still cutting clean, no chipping, no finish issues. My old HSS tools would be dull after maybe 80 parts and I'd be changing them every other day. Has anyone else had that moment where a tool you ignored for years totally changed your workflow?
