Burned my first batch of beans in a popcorn popper and switched to a $22 air fryer basket instead
Last Saturday I tried roasting green beans in a hot air popcorn popper I got at a garage sale for $4, and by minute six they were smoking and smelled like burnt toast. I dumped them in a colander, let them cool, and brewed a cup anyway, and it tasted like licking an ashtray. A guy on a home roasting forum said to try a mesh air fryer basket at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes, shaking it every 3 minutes. First try that way came out even and chocolatey, and now I am never going back to the popper. Has anyone else made the switch to an air fryer for small batches?
