Had to choose between an espresso machine upgrade or concert tickets for a show in Nashville
Picked the espresso machine and spent $450 on a used Rocket Appartamento that ended up needing $200 in repairs. Has anyone else regretted a coffee gear decision when the alternative was way more fun?

$450 on a used machine that needed another $200 right off the bat... That hurts just reading it. Nashville tickets would've been a whole weekend of fun for that price.

Used to be all about buying new and laughing at people who bought used machines, but after watching a friend sink $600 into a "deal" like this over six months, I totally get why @barbaraschmidt feels that way. It's not just the upfront cash, it's the slow bleed of parts and time that makes you wonder if you'd been better off just buying new or saving for that Nashville trip. I still buy used but I'm way more picky now, and I always factor in a hidden cost buffer of at least $100 before I even touch a listing. It's a gamble every time, and sometimes you just lose.
