Realized my 'clean' grinder was ruining every cup

A barista friend in Austin pointed out the stale grounds caked inside my burrs after 6 months, which explained the bitter, flat taste. Anyone else have a good schedule for a deep clean?

Six months? Try cleaning it every month.

My buddy had the same issue and his coffee tasted like dirt for weeks. He's on @calebb57's monthly plan now and it's a game changer. A quick brush after each bag keeps everything fresh.

Yeah the "tastes like dirt" thing is real. I was at my wit's end with stale coffee until I realized it wasn't the beans, it was my grinder. I started taking the burr apart once a month and wiping everything down with a dry cloth. Made a huge difference. Now I keep a little brush right next to the machine and give it a quick once-over after each use. Hard to believe a few leftover grounds could ruin a fresh bag but it absolutely does.
