That friend who swore by dark roasts finally proved me wrong
My buddy Mark told me for 3 years that dark roasts were destroying the bean's natural flavor, and after trying his light roast Ethiopian from a local roastery in Austin last Tuesday I have to admit the berry notes were actually there and mine just tasted like ash, anyone else have a coffee snob flip their opinion like that?

Yeah once you taste a good light roast there's really no going back to that burnt stuff.

And that burnt taste is just bitterness covering up bad beans, right? Once you try a clean, fruity light roast it's hard to go back to something that tastes like ash. Good coffee shouldn't need to be roasted into charcoal to hide its flaws.
