A CGC 9.8 sold for $150 more than a raw copy of that same book last week.

$150 more than a raw copy" - that doesn't prove graded is better. It just proves there are people with too much money chasing numbers. A raw copy sits on your shelf and reads the same. A slab sits on a shelf and you stare at a plastic box. I've seen raw 9.8s sell for half what CGC charges for slabbing the same book. It's a racket, not a value thing.
