Three issues of Deadpool #1 I bought for $80 at a con last year

I fell for the hype at Phoenix Fan Fusion 2023 and grabbed three copies of Deadpool #1 (1997) thinking they'd spike after the movie. Paid $80 total from some vendor who kept talking about the spec market. Checked eBay last month and they're going for like $12 each now. Anyone else get burned on spec buys from conventions?

Man, you're telling me. I used to think conventions were the best place to snag hot keys before they blew up. Figured the vendors were tapped into something I wasn't. But after getting burned on a set of Gwenpool #1 variants last year I completely changed my mind. That dealer swore up and down they'd be worth triple in six months. Now they're sitting in my longbox collecting dust while I scroll eBay seeing them for a quarter of what I paid. Lesson learned hard.

Man, that vendor must have seen you coming from a mile away. At least you can make a cool Deadpool themed paperweight collection now.
