Just realized how a weird detail from the 2013 Boston Marathon changed how I look at news

I was watching a documentary on the bombing and they showed the same clip of the second explosion from three different news cameras. In one, you could see a guy in a red hat running away before the blast, but the other two angles cut him out completely. It made me check multiple sources for any big event now, not just the first story I see. Does anyone else have a specific event that made them double check the footage?

Yeah, that's a really sharp catch. It makes you wonder how many other small details get left on the cutting room floor, right? I started doing the same thing after seeing how differently news outlets covered a local protest. The headlines were so different you'd think they were reporting on two separate events. Now I always check at least three sources and look for raw footage if I can find it.

Checking three sources sounds like a lot of work for everyday news. Most stories are just basic updates, not some big conspiracy. Raw footage is usually boring anyway, just people standing around.
