Dropped $200 on a laser plumb bob and it saved me 3 hours on a hospital job last Tuesday
Had to set up a luffing tower crane tight between two buildings and that cheap laser lined everything up on the first try, has anyone else found a gadget that actually paid for itself in one shift?

Man I read "$200 on a laser plumb bob" and immediately thought "that's my whole lunch budget for the week and also I'd probably lose it in the first ten minutes." But hey if it saved you three hours on a hospital job that's like what, three hundred bucks in labor if you bill by the hour? So you're already ahead. I bought one of those cheapy red laser levels from Harbor Freight once and it paid for itself when I used it to hang a bunch of cabinets and only had to drill like two extra holes instead of my usual ten.

Harbor Freight lasers are fine for hanging cabinets where being off by a quarter inch doesn't matter, but a hospital crane setup where a miscalculation could mean structural issues or worse? That's a different league. Are we really sure this thing is accurate enough for that kind of work after bouncing around in a toolbox for a month?
