Just realized most writing prompts about 'the future' are just the present with more chrome

I saw a prompt about a 2124 detective that still had them using a 'quantum tablet' like it's an iPad. The tech changed, but the human action didn't. Why do we imagine new tools but not new behaviors? Has anyone written a future story where the core conflict isn't solved by a device?

Ugh, you're so right. It's like we're stuck. Give the future guy a flying car but he still gets road rage. I read one where people had brain implants but the plot was about someone hiding a secret diary. The diary! Why not a conflict about how shared memory changes what truth even means? We just keep writing the same people in shinier rooms.

Honestly, people still want stories about people, not weird future stuff they can't relate to. Like @laura_white99's brain implant diary idea, a secret diary is just a human thing, and that's the point.
