Vent: That coffee shop in Portland that calls itself a 'writing space'

Went to this place called Wordcraft Cafe on 23rd Ave last Tuesday. They advertise comfy chairs and low music for writers, but the wifi was so slow I couldn't even load my document. Meanwhile, like 15 people were just sitting there scrolling phones. My debate is this: should a writing cafe prioritize fast wifi for research or dead quiet for focus? Which one actually helps you write better? I'm curious what you all think.

Ugh, Wordcraft is exactly the place I was thinking of when I saw this. Went there last month with my laptop and the wifi kept dropping every five minutes. Ended up using my phone hotspot to get anything done, which kind of defeats the purpose. The whole "quiet focus" vibe is great, but not when you're stuck waiting for a page to load for research. Place needs to pick a lane.

Still can’t believe they charge for coffee there @shane_nguyen, was it at least good wifi when it worked?
