A cashier's offhand remark made me check every card reader since

I was grabbing coffee in Portland last Tuesday and the barista mentioned she always yanks on card readers before swiping because her old shop got skimmed. That made me think about all the gas station pumps and ATMs I use without a second thought. Anyone else do a quick pull or visual check before tapping their card, or am I just paranoid now?
