Can we talk about travel cybersecurity? My Lisbon trip left me with a hacked email account.

I was in Lisbon last week and logged into my email from a public library computer. Big mistake, because someone accessed my account and sent spam to my contacts. I changed my password, but I'm still nervous. What are the best ways to stay safe when traveling? I'd appreciate any tips for non-techy people.

Have you set up two-factor authentication yet? @jamie_garcia25 is right about VPNs, but that extra login step saved me when my laptop got stolen in Barcelona.

After my phone got grabbed in Rome, two-factor on everything was a lifesaver. I also do what @jamie_garcia25 said and run a VPN on public Wi-Fi now. For library computers, I only check email on my own phone with a hotspot.

Yeah, public Wi-Fi is sketchy so I always use a VPN now.
