Old sysadmin told me to stop using the same password for everything and I blew him off for 6 months until my email got hijacked last Thursday
Had to spend 3 hours on the phone with support and change every single account I own because I figured 'nobody would want my boring accounts' and that guy was right, has anyone else had that wake up call come out of nowhere?

Reading a tech blog that said most people don't get hacked because they're interesting, they get hacked because hackers just automate scanning for reused passwords. That was the push I needed to finally check my password manager.

Honestly, that tech blog is spot on. Most hacks are just automated scripts trying reused combos from data breaches. What worked for me was picking one Sunday a month to run a password health check in my manager. Now I use a unique password for every site, even the dumb little forums I barely visit. It feels like a pain at first, but once you get going with a password manager it's actually easier than remembering the same weak password for everything. Ngl, I sleep better knowing my email isn't the same as my bank login.
