Vent: My phone got weirdly hot and the battery drained in 2 hours

It happened last Tuesday morning. The phone was just sitting on my desk. I checked the app list and saw something called 'WeatherWidget' using 80% of the battery. I never installed that. Ran a malware scan and it found three hidden apps. Had to do a full factory reset. Has anyone else had a random app show up and eat their battery like that?

Ugh, that's the worst. It feels like everything is just crammed with junk now. My smart TV started showing weird ads and it turned out some "free" app I tried was loading it with adware. Same with my brother's tablet, it came with a bunch of games he didn't even download. It's like you buy a thing and it's already half broken with all this garbage software. Makes you not want to update anything.
