Had a turbo feed line let go on a 6.7 Powerstroke pulling a grade in Wyoming
Oil sprayed everywhere under the hood, lost all boost pressure. I had to limp it to a pullout using just the emergency kit hose clamps and a spare quart of 15W-40. Anyone know a better permanent fix for those factory crimp fittings?

Wait, you used 15W-40 to top it off? That's not the right oil for a 6.7, those need 10W-30 or 5W-40 synthetic. Using the wrong weight can mess with the turbo bearings long term. For the fitting, just cut the crimp off and use a good quality fuel injection hose clamp, the constant tension kind. The factory crimps are junk and always fail.

Honestly the whole "factory crimps are junk" take is way overblown. Those things are designed for a specific pressure and vibration, a hose clamp just doesn't grip the same way. And about the oil, people get so hung up on exact weights. A lot of 15W-40 meets the same spec as a 5W-40, it's not gonna grenade your turbo from one top-off. The manual gives a range for a reason, ambient temperature matters more than anything.
