Hit 500 followers on my art account this morning and I'm still shocked
I started posting my digital paintings back in February just to get some feedback, never really expecting anyone to notice. This morning I logged in and saw I crossed 500 followers while I was asleep. That number feels wild to me because I remember staring at 12 followers for like two weeks straight thinking I was doing something wrong. Turns out posting consistently every other day and actually replying to comments made a bigger difference than I thought. I also started sharing my sketch process instead of just finished pieces and people seem to like seeing the messy middle part. But now I'm curious how you all grew your accounts, did you focus on one platform or spread out across a few? Also do you guys track stuff like follower count or just post and forget it?

Hell yeah congrats! Do you post on Twitter too or just sticking with one platform?

Wait are people actually treating follower counts like some kind of life achievement now? I mean cool you got 500 people to click a button but that number doesn't really mean anything in the real world. I've seen people with thousands of followers who can barely draw a straight line and others with like 50 who are actually talented. The whole process sharing thing is smart though since it shows you're actually making the art yourself instead of just reposting stuff. But honestly I wouldn't stress about tracking numbers too much it'll just drive you crazy comparing yourself to everyone else.
