That one critique about my lighting ruined my whole piece but fixed my next 10

I posted a fantasy landscape on a showcase forum in Minneapolis last spring and someone said my light source was 'fighting itself' - like the sun was coming from two places at once. I spent a whole weekend redoing the shadows on just that one layer and it clicked. Has anyone else had a single comment completely rewire how you approach a piece?

Yeah, I had someone point out that all my rocks looked like they were floating because I didn't ground the shadows right. Took me like four paintings to realize they meant cast shadows, not just shading the rocks themselves. That one comment changed everything for me too.
