Got drenched in a monsoon in Chiang Mai while on a Zoom call with a client

I set up my laptop on a covered balcony thinking I was safe, but the rain blew sideways and soaked my keyboard mid-sentence. The client just watched me panic unplug everything while pretending nothing was wrong. Anyone else have a work setup fail spectacularly because of weather?

A rain cover over the keyboard saved my laptop once.

That rain cover is a perfect example of how we DEPEND on little fixes for bigger design flaws. Same thing with phone cases - we buy thick rubber bumpers instead of demanding phones that don't shatter on concrete. It's like we've accepted that everyday tech is fragile and just build our lives around protecting it instead of asking why it's made that way. Some things work better with that kind of preemptive care, but it always makes me wonder what else we're just covering up instead of fixing.
