Went with foam instead of Worbla for my first Mando chest plate, surprising result

I spent 3 evenings shaping EVA foam with a heat gun because Worbla was $60 more and I wasn't sure about the learning curve, but now the paint keeps cracking at the seams, has anyone else had that issue with flexible foam armor?
