Pro tip: my buddy's zip tie advice saved me $35 on cable sleeves

My friend Jake swore by zip ties for cable management under my desk, and I laughed at him for 2 years. Last weekend I finally tried his trick of bundling every wire every 6 inches with small ties before routing. Took me 45 minutes and my desk looks cleaner than the day I bought it. Has anyone else found a dirt cheap hack that beat the fancy products?

My cousin Mike tried the same thing with bread ties on his PC build and ended up with cables so tight they pulled the motherboard standoffs loose. Took him an hour to fix the sagging rear I/O panel after that. Sometimes the cheap hacks work until they don't, I guess.
