A guy at the hardware store fixed my joystick wobble in 2 minutes

I was complaining to a customer about my Xbox controller drift and how I was about to drop $60 on a new one. He asked to see it, popped off the stick cap, and showed me a tiny crack in the base where the gimbal sits. Said to wrap a thin strip of electrical tape around the stem before pushing the cap back on. I tried it at home and the wobble is GONE. Who else has a janky fix that works better than buying replacement parts?

Three bucks for electrical tape versus sixty for a new controller, and the old guy at the store just smiled like he'd seen this a hundred times. I bet that same tape is holding together half the ductwork in his basement. Honestly, my whole life is held together by zip ties and hope at this point. My car's bumper is literally attached with two of them right now, so I feel this fix on a spiritual level. Next thing you know, someone's gonna tell me WD-40 fixes my marriage, and I'll believe them.
