That $14 hall effect joystick kit was a total scam for my PS5 pad
Remember seeing those cheap hall effect replacement sticks all over the place? I grabbed one last month off some random listing, thought I was being smart. Swapped them in, then had to recalibrate every single day for a week. Drift came back worse than the original stick. Wasted 2 evenings soldering and the module itself just died after 8 hours of use. Should have paid the extra $30 for a known brand. Anyone else get burned by these knockoff hall effect boards or did I just get a bad batch?
Cheap hall sticks are a coin flip, and you lost. I got a $12 pair off the same kind of listing, one drifted out of the box and the other lasted two weeks. The sensors in those things are bottom of the barrel, no dead zone tuning at all. Paying for a name brand board is the only way to go if you want it to actually last.
