A customer in Portland taught me a cheap trick for paint cleanup

Last fall I had a client who insisted I reuse old grocery bags to line trays, and I laughed it off until I tried it. Turns out a damp paper bag liner peels off dried latex paint way easier than foil, 50 cents a session vs $2. Anyone else got a weird customer tip that actually stuck?

The damp paper bag trick sounds clever on paper, but I have to push back on the savings part. I tried this once with a thick liner and the bag tore halfway through a big job, leaving me cleaning paint out of the tray anyway. Foil might cost more upfront, but it holds up against heavy roller pressure and you can flip it over for a second coat. Plus those grocery bags get soggy fast if the paint is wet for more than an hour, which is pretty much always on my site. I’d rather spend the extra dollar and not gamble on a cleanup that might double my time.
