Hit 200 tool sharpening jobs this week, never counted before

I've been sharpening chisels and plane blades for neighbors and friends for pocket cash, and when I hit 200 jobs on Tuesday it hit me that half of them were fixing dull edges from people who just gave up on cheap bench grinders, so has anyone else found that most DIY folks ditch sharpening before they ever learn the angle trick?

Remember that most cheap bench grinders spin way too fast and burn the edge off before you even get a burr. That's not folks giving up, that's the tool fighting them from the start. You can't learn the angle trick on a grinder that ruins steel in three seconds flat. Slow speeds and light passes are the real secret, and most DIY guys never get that chance. So half your jobs might be fixing bad grinder damage, not simple dullness. Maybe point them to a cheap diamond plate or a hand sharpening guide instead of blaming their patience.
