Just realized my paint sprayer was clogging because of the wrong tip size

I was at the hardware store last weekend picking up supplies for repainting my fence, and the guy behind the counter asked what tip I was using. I told him the one that came with the sprayer, and he just shook his head. Said most beginner kits ship with a tip meant for thick paint, not thin stain. Checked the manual when I got home and sure enough, the tip size was way off for what I was doing. I had been fighting clogs for two months on other projects. Has anyone else had a similar issue where the default setup was just wrong for the job?

My stock tip worked fine with thick primer, thats on you for not reading the manual.

Feel you on this one @john_johnson75... primers can be a real pain even when you follow the manual. I read the instructions twice before I started and still ended up with a mess on my first try. The stock tip might work for some people but different batches of primer have different thickness, you know? Just because it worked for you doesn't mean everyone else is doing it wrong. Sometimes you get a bad can or the weather messes with it, stuff happens.
