PSA: That $80 laser level from the flea market is a toy, not a tool

Bought one of those cheap green laser levels off a guy in a Tacoma parking lot last month. Took it home, mounted it on a tripod to hang some cabinets, and the beam drifted about a half inch over just 6 feet. Redid all the pencil marks twice before I figured out the thing was the problem. My old bubble level did better work. Anyone else get burned by bargain-bin tools on marketplace sites?

The real test is dropping it on concrete, those cheap ones die after one knock, the expensive ones keep going for years.
