PVC glue failure surprised me, temp ratings matter more than labels
I was fixing a sprinkler line last weekend in Fresno and used regular PVC cement on a hot water line near the water heater. The joint started weeping within 2 days, so I looked it up and found out standard glue is only rated to 140F while the hot water was hitting 160F+. That blew my mind because the pipe itself was fine, but the glue was the weak link. Swapped to high-temp cement rated for 180F and no leaks since. Has anyone else had a joint fail from heat when the pipe looked totally fine?

Wait, don't most plumbers just use the purple stuff anyway?
