My neighbor said to use dish soap instead of screen emulsion remover

After 4 ruined screens and a very slippery kitchen floor, turns out he was messing with me and I should have just bought the $12 bottle of dehazer from the art supply store - has anyone else fallen for a prank from a well-meaning friend?

Oh man I once tried to clean a screen with straight up vinegar like a genius and spent the next hour trying to air out my entire apartment.

Wait, is this really that big of a deal though? I mean yeah it's annoying to clean up a mess but it sounds like you still got four perfectly good screens and just used the wrong cleaner on them. Dish soap won't actually ruin silk screen mesh unless it's some crazy industrial degreaser situation. Honestly I've accidentally used windex on a screen before and it was fine after a good rinse. Maybe your friend was just being dumb and not actually trying to prank you. You probably could've just wiped them down with a damp cloth and saved the twelve bucks.
